Skins Take Down Mermen
By Chris Ostrow
Despite still being hungover from St. Patrick's Day, The Mermen were able to hang around longer than expected but eventually fell to the first place Skins. A new center provided to be a difficult adjustment for quarterback Tom Heedles as the game started off on the first possesion with a safety.
The Mermen were able to move the ball on the Skins defense with a few long scrambles by Steve Roman. Elijah proved to be the difference maker on the defensive line recording five sacks in a game coming two shy of eclipsing the single game record held by Tommy D.

Dynasty Escapes
by Chris Ostrow
In the game of the week, Dynasty remained undefeated by narrowly escaping The Ballhawks 12-6 at Bloomingdale Park. Jeff Cela found Michael Ostrow at the back of the endzone that gave Dynasty an early 6-0 lead. The Ballhawks applied pressure with their strength on the defensive line to force their way back into the game.
A late interception by Brian Morrisey put them in position to make a come back. Morrisey also hauled in a touchdown pass from Rob Carlson to tie up the game with about 2:30 remaining in the game. Vinny Orlando found one of his go to wide-outs down the stretch to put Dynasty up with just under a minute left in the game to seal the victory.

Knuckleheads Blank Hitmen
by Chris Ostrow
The Knuckleheads played short-handed in the first half, but that did not stop them from blanking The Hitmen 14-0 at Bloomingdale Park. The Hitmen knocked on the door of the end zone several times and every time they got near the goal line they either turned it over on downs or turned the ball over.
The Knuckleheads threw a spot pass late in the game to John Hood who took the ball to the two yard line. This would set up The Knuckleheads for their second score, putting the game out of reach.
The Hitmen played their best game to date but came up short. If the Hitmen continue at this pace its only a matter of time before they notch their first win.
On the other side The Knuckleheads have continued their hot play as of late and are currently on a two game winning streak. Quarterback Anthony Cimaglia has found his comfort zone in the pocket and has used this to connect with his set of wide recievers.

by Chris Ostrow
The Hitmen return to action for their second season with 5th Boro. The Hitmen sport one of the best defensive lines in the league as they have a combination of a speed and a power rush. The Hitmen are looking forward to taking the next step they had made during their late playoff push last season.

Spring Football '12—The Knuckleheads
by Chris Ostrow
The Knuckleheads formerly known as Team Barlow, in honor of their beloved friend and mentor, is a team that shows a lot of poise, passion, and heart. The key to this team is the speed of the wide receivers and their defensive backs. Led by last season's DB of the Year Alan Kopeloff and new quarterback Anthony Cimaglia, the Knuckleheads put forth a balanced attack. The Knuckleheads are looking to get off to a hot start and challenge any team when they are at full strength to take them on.

Spring Football '12—Ballhawks Team Bio
by Chris Ostrow
Throughout the years, this team has undergone a few name changes. Formerly known as The Warriors, and The Monstarz, The Ballhawks have hopes of obtaining their first 5th Boro title. The Ballhawks play a physical style of football in which they try to punish teams with their hard hitting defensive prowess. Not known to ever get blown out, The Ballhawks are the type of team that can keep every game close and down to the wire. After falling short the past few seasons expect The Ballhawks to put it together this year and make a run for the title.

Spring Football '12—Dynasty Team Bio
by Chris Ostrow
Now entering their fourth season of 5thboro competition, Dynasty looks to defend their title of back-to-back-to-back champions. Dynasty has not lost a game in the past two seasons. Originally they entered the league as "The Yellow Team" under captain Michael Linane. However, the day Linane walked off the field and abandoned the team proved as the turning point for not only Dynasty but the league. Dynasty won the championship over The Turtles in the leagues inaugural year and after the first season many people were saying that Dynasty was a flash in the pan team that got hot and upset the best team in the league. Dynasty proved the naysayers wrong as they went on to follow up their first championship with an undefeated season.
Dynasty features a devastating line and a slew of offensive weapons including reigning league MVP quarterback Vinny Orlando. Dynasty has added some new pieces to the puzzle to remain undefeated but the core group remains intact. The combination of team chemistry, speed and a devastating pass rush make them one difficult team to beat.

Skins Ground Ballhawks
STATEN ISLAND, NY—Lead by new quarterback Frank Izzo’s four
passing touchdown, the Skins defeated the Ballhawks 30-10 on Sunday at
Bloomingdale Park.
Izzo’s first touchdown pass was thrown right on the money to
Brendan Mcloughin who ripped the ball out of air right next to the front end
zone cone.
The Ballhawks would use a late charge but a costly penalty
proved lead to their demise.
The Ballhawks set their sights on the Mermen for a Mar. 11
matchup at 3:15 pm while the Skins will head into their bye week.

Dynasty Remains Perfect
STATEN ISLAND, NY—Perfection continues. Dynasty’s improbable three-year win
streak continued as they defeated the Knuckleheads 24-6 Sunday afternoon at
Bloomingdale Park.
The Knuckleheads were shorthanded as other commitments
proved to be more important than ending the longest streak in any 5th
Boro Sports league.
Despite a slow start, Dynasty picked up its offense behind
quarterback Vincent Orlando’s two rushing touchdowns.
The Knuckleheads finally got on track offensively when
Anthony Cimaglia caught a pass from Brendan Mcloughin.
However, Dynasty’s lead was too much to overcome.
Dynasty will take on the Hitmen on Mar. 11 at 4:15 pm while
the Knuckleheads search for their first victory against the Lucchini in the
Mar. 11 nightcap.
